If you have never made a smashburger before then there is no better time to get started. Many people are skeptical about the incredibly thin patties with their crispy edges.   • 2 Buns – I like a brioche bun
  • 4oz Ground Chuck – 80% Lean
  • Mayonnaise
  • Pickles
  • Salt

Smashburger Method

For the burger sauce mix all the ingredients together in a mixing bowl and refrigerate until you put it on the burgers later.

One important thing with smashburgers is ensuring that the meat is not straight out of the fridge. It needs to come out of the fridge about twenty minutes before you plan to cook it. Smashburgers are quick and fast so you can get the buns toasted simultaneously as you cook the meat.

Roll the meat into even-sized balls and get the cooker up to temperature. It doesn’t matter if you are using a cast iron skillet, a Blackstone, or any other type of griddle it must be hot. Drop the buns on the griddle and the two balls of beef. After about ten seconds start to smash that beef into really thin circles. You can do this with a spatula or if you are planning to make smashburgers often you can invest in a proper smashing tool.

Cook until a brown crust starts to form on the bottom season with salt and pepper and flip the burger. Add cheese to the burger and cook for another minute.

By now the bun should be toasted so it is time to assemble the burger.

Take the bottom half of the bun, and add mayonnaise to it. I don’t like it too thick but add what you think you will enjoy. Put some pickles on top. Then add the beef patty, the burger sauce, and finally the top part of the bun.
