BBQ Grilled Pulled Pork Pizza - Ultimate Guide!

BBQ Grilled Pulled Pork Pizza – Ultimate Guide!

If you love pizza and you want to make your own at home then today we are going to guide you through the whole process. You don’t need a pizza oven for this recipe. Just your regular outside grill will be perfect. This recipe is excellent for using up your leftover pulled pork and its something that your family will love. Its simple to make and if the kids want to get involved they won’t find it too difficult either.

Lets get started. The idea of this recipe is that we keep it really simple so i decided to use pizza crusts that I bought in the store. If you are already up to speed with making your own pizza base then go right ahead and do that. The reason i like the store bought ones is that they work great on the grill.

Making the Sauce

With your base all ready we can get straight on with making the sauce. We are using a white barbecue sauce in this guide but if you want to go with the traditional red sauce that will also work very well. I just find the flavors that the white sauce brings to the pizza works really well.

To make the white sauce you need to mix together the following.

  • 2 Cups Mayo
  • 1/4 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Black Pepper
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Garlic
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper

Take a spoon and spread the white sauce over the pizza crust. With this done you want to add some finely sliced white onion. On top of this we are going to add some cheese. The cheese should be grated. I like to use three different cheeses. The cheeses I like are mozzarella, cheddar and jack. If you have a different preference do with that. Add quite a lot of cheese. You can never have too much cheese, can you?

Now it is time for your pulled pork. I have included the link to our recipe if you are looking to smoke your own. You need to use pulled pork that is not hot. The grill will sort out that for you. Spread the pulled pork all over the top of the cheese.

Some Extra Touches

By now your pizza should be looking pretty awesome. If you like jalapenos on your pizza now is the time to add them. Put some more cheese on top of the pizza. The extra cheese is really going to bond everything together nicely. Drizzle just a little more white sauce on top and we are ready for the cook.

These pizzas are going to cook pretty quickly. You are looking at just 8-10 minutes for them and then they are ready. Put a layer of lump coal into your grill and get it lit. You want to get the grill up to about 400 degrees. With the coal lit get the lid closed and open the top vent. Putting it on the number one position will allow some air to get out and the vent on the bottom should just be opened about a thumbs width. With this setup you should be able to maintain a decent 400 degrees which will be perfect for this cook.

You can cook the pizza directly on the rack. Just slide it off your board and onto the grill and get the lid closed. With all that heat the cheese is going to all melt and bond all those ingredients together. The crust of the pizza will get nice and crispy without burning. After about four minutes you should open the lid and give everything a check. You don’t want the bottom to burn so really keep an eye on it.

A few minutes more and everything should be complete. The cheese should all be melted and the crust a beautiful golden brown. The pork should be completely stuck within the cheese now and the onions cooked nicely.

Get your pizza onto a cutting board and you ready to eat. Before I cut it up I like to add some of my favorite hot sauce just to give it a little kick. It really increases the flavor of the pulled pork. Take a large blade or a pizza cutter and get that pizza into slices.
