Snow’s BBQ is a highly-regarded barbecue restaurant located in Lexington, Texas. It is known for its brisket and sausage, which are cooked over post oak wood. The restaurant is open on Saturdays only and is known for having long lines, so many people recommend arriving early. Snow’s BBQ has received numerous accolades, including being named the best barbecue joint in Texas by Texas Monthly in 2008. The pitmaster, Tootsie Tomanetz, has also received recognition for her barbecue skills. It is considered one of the best BBQ joints in Texas.

Tootsie Tomanetz worked with Kerry Bexley and helped him to open Snow’s BBQ on March 2, 2003, and is known for her expertise in cooking brisket and sausage over post oak wood. Tootsie is an iconic figure in the Texas barbecue scene and has received numerous accolades for her barbecue skills. She has been featured in many articles and documentaries about Texas barbecue, including the Netflix series “MeatEater” and “BBQ with Franklin” and a James Beard Foundation semi-finalist in the “Outstanding Pitmaster” category in 2018. Tootsie is considered one of the most talented pitmasters in Texas and her legacy continues to be celebrated by the barbecue community and her customers.

The restaurant only opens on Saturday mornings between eight in the morning and noon. This is only four hours a week but this does not stop people from traveling hours to join the queue every Saturday morning. There are occasions when the restaurant will close earlier than twelve o’clock. This is because the volume of customers will be too much for the amount of food available. Early arrival is definitely recommended.

Their menu typically includes brisket, pork ribs, sausage, pulled pork, turkey, chicken, and sides such as coleslaw, potato salad, and beans. They may have seasonal menu items and specials as well.

The meats are cooked low and slow over the course of several hours. This allows them to achieve the perfect balance of tenderness and flavor. They use a simple salt and pepper rub for their brisket and let the natural flavor of the meat shine through. Pork ribs are seasoned with a dry rub and are smoked for several hours to achieve a perfect balance of tenderness and flavor. Sausages are made in-house with a special recipe, and also smoked over post oak wood.

The restaurant has been featured in publications such as Texas Monthly and Southern Living. Additionally, Snow’s BBQ has won numerous awards and accolades, including being named the “Best BBQ in Texas” by Texas Monthly and is included in the “Top 50 BBQ Joints in Texas” by Texas Monthly.

If the restaurant is too far to travel there is always the option of ordering online. If you do this the meats will be delivered to your door by UPS. The selection of meats available is good and it includes brisket, ribs, sausages, turkey, and others. You can also order Snow’s BBQ signature sauces and rubs. These are often sent with free delivery.
