Barbecue Planning Checklist

How to Make a Barbecue Planning Checklist

Everyone will be coming over to your house for a barbecue party. The yard will be packed with visitors, food, and drinks. You are sure that everybody will have a nice party…except you! But don’t worry, with a little planning, everyone…even you could enjoy the party. The secret is to make a barbecue planning checklist using the following steps.

Step 1: Make a guest’s list.

Start by listing down all the people you want to invite. Make or order an invitation card and send them as early as possible. You can also call them up. Just make sure to confirm if they are coming or not. Then, plan the menu, finalize and make a shopping list of everything you need to buy. If there are vegetarians or people who don’t eat pork, plan for them as well.

Step 2: Assign the work.

If family and some close friends are coming, check if you could assign some work for them to help you out with the preparation. See who can volunteer to make salads, or prepare desserts for instance. This will give you time to concentrate more on the grilling. If you will be using a gas grill, check if the fuel is enough, likewise if you will be using charcoal, check if it is also enough.Make a Barbecue Planning Checklist

Step 3: Make arrangements.

If you need to borrow any equipment or materials that you need for the party, you should make arrangements as soon as possible. You should make a list of things you have to get. Make sure that things are already well prepared the day before the event.

Step 4: Know what you need before the party.

These are the things that you need to prepare before the event: paper plates; napkins; paper towels; plastic utensils; foods; and beverages. It is a good idea to get slightly more that you need to make sure you will never run out of items. You should also plan for the decorations or the theme you want to achieve.

Step 5: Prioritize.

If there are foods that could be prepared ahead of time such as frozen foods, snacks and mixes, now is the time to get started. The day before the party, get the ice you need for drinks. Go over your list and check up all perishable and last-minute items you need. Don’t forget to prepare the condiments that you will need such as mayonnaise, relish, mustard, pickles etc. Call your assigned salad maker so that he/she can already start preparing for the salad too. Start decorating the area and arrange tables and chair, and work areas. At night, start thawing your frozen meats for tomorrow.

Step 6: Be prepared on the day of the event.

On the day of the event, set out plates, utensils and barbecue tools. Wear an apron with a pocket so that you can put all the small tools inside. This will make your work easier and organized because you don’t have to run inside the house to get something. Set up drinks, and other food items. Put all the beverages in the ice chest. Ask some of your friends and relatives to come early before the set time to help you out in the preparation and finishing touches.

These are basically what should be noted when you barbecue planning. Take time out to check on every detail to avoid hassles during the party.
